This privacy statement outlines how SPP manages personal information under the Privacy Act 2020. Please take a moment to read this statement and our website terms. By providing your personal information to us (e.g. by visiting our website or otherwise engaging with us) you agree to the terms of this statement. We may update this statement from time to time and encourage you to review it periodically.

Why do we collect personal information and how do we use it?

We may collect personal information to provide services through this website and for business administration and legal compliance purposes, including to:

  • verify your identity and provide products and services you have requested;
  • communicate with you, including to provide information about our business;
  • collect personal information from or about future and current staff, crew, cast, extras and other participants for the purposes of engagement on our productions;
  • help us manage and enhance our business; and
  • comply with our legal obligations (e.g. regulatory and contractual requirements and court orders) and for health & safety and insurance purposes.

In general, depending on the nature of your connection with us, the type of personal information we may collect includes:

  • where you are a prospective or current employee/contractor or participant in our programmes: name, contact details, education and work history, qualifications, references, background checks, and other information relevant to the work or production (as may be requested in the application form);
  • if you are involved in any health & safety accident: your name, contact details, incident details (including any injury and treatment); and
  • other information which assists us in conducting our business and meeting our legal obligations.

If personal information we request is not provided, we may not be able to supply the relevant product or service, or perform our business operations and comply with our obligations.

How do we collect personal information?

We will collect personal information:

  • from you directly (e.g. when you provide your details to us) or indirectly (e.g. through emails, social media, meetings, interviews, our website);
  • from third parties in some instances, for example:
  • we may use third parties to analyse traffic at our website, which may involve the use of cookies;
  • work references;
  • where a third party provides services such as selling SPP-related products or security-related services;
  • from publicly available websites and resources;
  • otherwise as permitted by law.

Who do we share your personal information with?

We may disclose your personal information to:

  • companies or individuals who assist us in providing services or perform functions on our behalf (such as couriers who deliver parcels, and online hosting and data storage providers);
  • if you work on our productions, companies relevant to the production (such as broadcasters, platforms, distributors and financiers) and government funding bodies;
  • other members of the All3Media group;
  • our professional advisers such as lawyers and accountants;
  • governmental and regulatory authorities;
  • anyone else you authorise us to disclose it to; and
  • where we are otherwise permitted or required to do so by law.

We will collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information only when we have a legal basis for doing so, and we will do so in a manner that is fair and transparent to you.

How do we obtain your consent?

Where our use of your personal information requires your consent, you can provide such consent:

  • at the time we collect your personal information following the instructions provided; or
  • by informing us by email, post or phone using the contact details set out below.

Cookies and similar technologies

We may use technology such as cookies and Google Analytics to track and report on traffic at our website. You can set your browser not to accept cookies.

This statement applies only to SPP’s use of personal information. When you link to another website or request a service from a third party (for example, if you access or buy SPP-related products through a third party), your dealings will be subject to the third party’s privacy policies and terms of use. We encourage you to become familiar with the privacy practices of every website you visit and other services that you use.

How long do we keep your personal information for?

We will comply with our legal obligations for the retention or destruction of personal information where required.

Confidentiality and security of your personal information

We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information from loss and misuse, and against access, use, modification or disclosure that isn’t authorised by SPP.

Data processors (third parties who process your personal information on our behalf) are required to comply with relevant privacy laws.

Where we disclose personal information to a third party outside New Zealand, we check that they are required to protect the information in a way that, overall, provides comparable safeguards to those in the Privacy Act.

How can you access and correct your personal information?

You may contact us to request access to the personal information we hold about you (subject to any exceptions in the Privacy Act), and ask that we correct personal information we hold about you. We may require additional information about you, including to verify your identity, before disclosing any information to you.
